hauled services on the Paddington-Oxford route were gradually phased out
in favour of Thames Turbos. Officially the last day of Class 47 hauled
trains was Friday 3rd July 1992.
The last trains were: |

| 1748 Padd-Bedwyn | 47423+47701 |
| 1750 Padd-Twyford | 47449 |
| 1800 Oxford-Padd | 47547 |
| 1920 Padd-Oxford | 47431 |

After the 3rd July, the 47/7s were transferred to Eastleigh and worked Waterloo-Exter services until they ended. The last of the NSE locos moved to Rail Express Systems along with a few others. The Series Parallel machines remained at Old Oak Common to be broken up by MRJ Phillips. The locos remained in the yard until disposal in 1997. |
